Case Study: Data Mining & Back-End System Data Entry For Minby.net

Challenge

Minby develops a Norway City Guide smartphone app. In this case, after developing the UI the basic challenge was to populate the app by manually collecting and inputting information regarding local restaurants, shops, museum, shopping malls and daily events in that area. Doing this locally costs quite a lot which is why this was becoming a major drawback. Besides, Minby.net has a web application backend set in which data entry operators of their app have to input the data by logging into the database.

Solution

Worktrooper solved this problem by providing Minby with two qualified members to complete this task. We divided the whole project into two parts. Firstly, the two agents researched online and collected different data such as images, contact information etc. of local businesses. Later, uploaded the data using the website backend system. Furthermore, the team is also responsible for reporting bugs which might enter the app. Secondly, they keep updating the app with daily events, sourced from Facebook.

Results

With our backend services for iOS and backend services for Android Minby.net have noticed quite an improvement in their operation. With data entry operators present, their work efficiency has increased a lot. With these changes, Fits Consulting claims that there was more than 37% reduction seen in their overall operating cost. In the end, the app was populated with 1960 local businesses in 6 different cities in just 3 months. This is a pretty big sign that the addition of qualified members has greatly helped the company. Currently, the team is updating the apps of 6 cities with about 300 local events per day. Outsourcing its operations from Worktroopers has proven to be greatly beneficial for the company.
